WEBSITE USAGE REPORT FOR THE FIRST QUARTER 2019

1) TOTAL VISITORS TO THE WEBSITE:

There were 18,828 visitors, at an average of 209 per day.

This is a 31% increase over the First Quarter of 2018.

2) BREAKDOWN INTO NEW VISITORS & RETURNING VISITS:

Of these 18,828 visitors, there were:

New Visitors: 14,218 = 75%

Returning Visits: 4,610 = 25%

3) TOTAL NUMBER OF PAGEVIEWS:

The total number of times articles were looked at was 26,972 at an average of 299 per day.

This is a 15.9% increase over the First Quarter of 2018.

4) TOTAL NUMBER OF WEBSITE USERS:

For the period under review there were 14,433 different visitors.

This is a 36% increase over the First Quarter of 2018.

5) TOTAL NUMBER OF COUNTRIES REPRESENTED:

For this period the visitors came from 154 different countries.

This is a 4% increase over the First Quarter of 2018.

6) NUMBER OF CITIES WORLDWIDE:

For this period the visitors came from 4,128 different cities and towns around the world. This is a 22% increase over the previous Quarter.

7) NUMBER OF CITIES IN THE U.S.A.:

For this period the 12,885 visitors from within the U.S.A. came from 3,125 cities and towns located throughout all of the 50 States and D.C.

This is a 24% increase over the First Quarter of 2018.

Visitors to the website who do not wish to read the articles online have the choice: they can either download the articles to their own computers, or they can print the articles directly from the webpage. Below are these two statistics.

8) NUMBER OF ARTICLES DOWNLOADED:

For this period visitors downloaded 153 articles.

This is a 8% decrease over the First Quarter of 2018.

9) NUMBER OF ARTICLES PRINTED OUT DIRECTLY:

For this period visitors printed directly 309 articles.

This is an 86% decrease over the First Quarter of 2018.

10) COMBINED TOTAL OF DOWNLOADS + PRINTED:

For this period the combined total was 462 articles.

This is an 81% decrease over the First Quarter of 2018.

11) RATIO OF TOTAL VISITS TO (PRINTED + DOWNLOADS):

The 462 articles either printed out or downloaded, compared to the 18,828 total visitors represent 2.5%.

Put another way, the ratio of articles printed/downloaded to the number of visits was: 1 : 40

12) TOTAL NUMBER OF DIFFERENT ARTICLES VIEWED:

At the end of this Quarter there were 360 different articles on the website for visitors to read and to print/download. Of those 360 articles, during this period visitors viewed over 350 articles, in addition to visiting over 150 non-article reference pages on the website. So every part of the website is being used by visitors.

13) MAIN BROWSERS USED BY VISITORS:

#1 = CHROME used by 49.9% of visitors

#2 = SAFARI used by 29.8% of visitors

#3 = INTERNET EXPLORER used by 3.1% of visitors

#4 = FIREFOX used by 4.8% of visitors

#5 = EDGE used by 3.4% of visitors

#6 = OPERA MINI + OPERA used by 2.4% of visitors

#7 = MISC. OTHER BROWSERS used by 6.6% of visitors

The percentages of visitors coming from these different browsers has changed very little from previous quarters.

14) ACQUISITION, HOW VISITORS CAME TO THE WEBSITE:

Organic Search = 15,667 = 83.2%

Direct Visits = 2,684 = 14.3%

Referrals = 154 = 0.8%

Social Media = 323 = 1.7%

Thus 39 out of every 40 visitors either already knew my website address, or they came as a result of a specific search they had executed in their browser.

15) TOP 5 MOST VIEWED ARTICLES:

Of the 26,972 Pageviews during this period, the following were the top 5 most viewed articles.

These top 5 articles represent just over 25% of all visits to the website.

ASSESSING THESE REPORTS

Here are some of the conclusions for this current Quarter.

1) The 18,828 visitors came from 154 different countries, representing 4,128 different cities or towns around the world. On average, there is 1 new town represented for every 4.5 visitors. This shows a wide spread for visitors.

2) While around 68% of all visitors for this Quarter live in the U.S.A. (i.e. 12,885), those visitors are spread around in 3,125 different towns and cities in the U.S.A., spread across all 50 states. On average, there is 1 new town in the U.S.A. represented for every 4.1 visitors from the U.S.A.

3) About 97% of all articles on the wensite were accessed during this three months period.

4) The 18,828 visitors either printed out or downloaded 462 articles. That represents 1 article printed out or downloaded for every 40 visitors.

5) 79% of all visitors used either Chrome or Safari as their browser of choice.

6) 75% of the total number of visitors were new visitors, and 25% were returning visits.

7) This quarter experienced the highest number of visitors to this website yet for the 9 quarters for which we have now been keeping statistics.

8) From January 1, 2017 up to March 31, 2019 (i.e. 9 quarters) there have been 108,315 visits to the website, coming from 201 different "countries" (as Google Analytics counts countries). Those 201 countries cover the whole world, except for a handful of countries in Africa. Those visitors came from 9,610 cities and towns around the world, 6,804 of those cities being in the USA. And new cities are being added to those numbers on a daily basis.

Those 108,315 visits consisted of 67,615 different people who visited the website only 1 single time, and a further 10,238 different people who visited the website 2 or more times. In total the 108,315 visits came from 77,853 different people. Included in that group were 486 different people who visited the website 10 or more times during that period.
