Heylel This Hebrew noun is only used here and is almost universally mistranslated as "Lucifer". The word refers to Satan and is formed from the verb meaning "to boast and to be mad". It should correctly be translated as "Mad Boaster", which is precisely what Satan is shown doing in Isaiah 14:13-14, making the incredibly mad boast that he would overcome God. Only a "heylel", a supremely arrogant idiot, would even contemplate challenging God, his Creator. See also entries under "Lucifer", "Day Star" and 'Lightbringer". Isaiah 14:12
